Game 12 Preview: Chang Thailand Slammers vs San Miguel Beermen

 VS
Sunday 29th January 2012, Tip off 3pm local time, Thai Japanese Association Gym, Thailand.Â
It’s been a rocky road into season 3 so far for the Chang Thailand Slammers, who have now lost two out of their three opening games, one of which to the new Thai team Bangkok Cobras. Hoping to avoid their third straight loss, the defending champions will get a visit from San Miguel Beermen, who has just come off an important win against season one champions the AirAsia Philippine Patriots.
The Slammers added a new Filipino player last week in Chester Tolomia who played for the Brunei Barracudas last season. Tolomia made his presence felt right away by scoring 16 points against the Cobras. Slammers’ import Kenneth Walker had a miserable game against the Cobras. The 6’9’’ forward was scoreless despite playing 32 minutes. Slammers’ top scorer Deandre Thomas comes into this game as the League’s number five top scorer with 22.3 points per game. Thomas will have a tough battle in the paint against Beermen’s young center June Mar Fajardo and Dalron Johnson.
Beermen’s new
import Doug Thomas contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds in 26 minutes in their
win against the Patriots. Thomas will most likely play more minutes alongside
Dalron Johnson who had a double-double last weekend with 23 points and 11
rebounds. Beermen’s guard Leo Avenido was also a big contributor in their last
game. After a tough first game, Avenido scored 14 points and will be a big
factor this weekend against the defending champions.Â
