Game 27: Dominating Performance by Beermen Gives Warriors Third Home Loss

Indonesia Warriors 61 : 77 San Miguel Beermen

Saturday 18th February 2012, Tip off 5pm local time, Mahaka Square, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Leo Avenido vs Jerrick CanadaThe Beermen were unstoppable and did not give up the lead the entire game. Doug Thomas led the Beermen with his season-high 23 points. Leo Avenido added a further 12 points. Indonesia Warriors Jonathan Smith and Steven Thomas’ both recorded double-doubles, Smith with 18 points and 15 rebounds while Thomas had 16 points and 17 rebounds but it was just not enough to gain the upper hand over the Beermen.

Coach Bobby Parks was happy with his team’s defense tonight. “Going to this game, I wanted my team to double team whenever Jonathan Smith and Steven Thomas get the ball inside. Those two can really score. And they also need to know where Mario Wuysang is. They did a great job,” said Coach Parks. The Beermen’s defense limited Wuysang to only 10 points in the game.

The Warriors did not get a lot out of their bench in this game. Only Jerick Canada scored for the Warriors off the bench with 6 points while the Beermen managed 27 points from their bench. Jonathan Smith

Coming into the 4th quarter, The Warriors still struggled with their offense. Beermen’s Allan Mangahas hit back to back three point shots to stretch the Beermen’s lead to  69-54 with just minutes left. It was a woeful final quarter for the Warriors, who only managed 9 points as the Beermen extend their winning streak to 3 games. The Beermen are now with 5 wins and 2 losses.

Both these teams will play their next games on the 25th of February 2012 where they both play hosts. The Indonesia Warriors will face the Jobstreet.com Singapore Slingers at Mahaka Square in Jakarta, Indonesia while the San Miguel Beermen will host the Westports Malaysia Dragons at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines.
