The ASEAN Basketball League today confirmed that a fine has been imposed on Warriors’ Richard Michael Smith following an incident at the Indonesia Warriors’ season opener against the San Miguel Beermen last weekend. 

 During the post-game handshake of the game, which was played at Mahaka Square in Indonesia and televised regionally on ESPN, Smith was seen shoving San Miguel Beermen’s Asi Taulava with his shoulder.

The League reviewed the video evidence and has concluded that this is considered unsportsmanlike behaviour as outlined in the league’s rules and regulations. As such, Smith will be facing an undisclosed fine or he will be ineligible to play the Warriors’ next game against the Saigon Heat on the 19^th of January.

The Indonesia Warriors has chosen not to appeal the decision.
