Saturday February 23rd 2013, Tip off 3Pm local time, 3PM HKT, MABA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.

The memory of the last time the
Chang Thailand Slammers visited MABA Stadium are still fresh for the Westports
Malaysia Dragons' fans.
The visiting team grabbed a 77-65 win from behind the
brilliance of Chris Charles and Froilan Baguion. Charles had a monster gameand finished with 29 points
and 27 rebounds.
The Dragons
would love to take a lead in their season series as Saturday's matchup will be
their third meeting this season. The season series for these two are now at 1
game a piece.
The Slammers
will face a different Dragons team who are coming in off a big 82-76 win over the San
Miguel Beermen last Saturday. Two new players, Sammy Monroe and Justin Melton,
starred for the Dragons. Monroe had an incredible debut with the Dragons as he
finished with 32 points, 7 rebounds, 6 asssists and 8 steals. Melton was not to
be outclassed by Monroe as finished with 19 points. Gavin Edwards chipped in
with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
“I just do
what it takes to win” a visibly tired Monroe said of his performance after the
game. Monroe arrived from the US on Thursday and was driven straight from the
airport to practice.
Although the Dragons were outrebounded 51-42 by the Beermen, Dragons
Coach Ariel Vanguardia was happy with his team’s performance after the game
“We’re getting there little by little. We got the rebounds that we needed to
get today, the ones that we weren’t getting against Indonesia and Singapore, we
got those today.”
The Slammers dropped their last game after a 90-74 loss to Indonesia
Warriors at home. Chris Charles was impressive with 27 point son 11 of 12
shooting plus pulling down 12 rebounds. Wuttipong Dasom added 23 points for the
Slammers who will be looking to snap a two-game skid.
Melton will have his handfull with Froilan Baguion. In the second meeting of the season, Baguion had his best game so far this season by finishing with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Baguion currently is the top assist man in the league with 11 assists per game.
Michael Earl will look to bounce back in this game after having a forgettable game against the Indonesia Warriors when he only finished 1 point. Earl will also have a tough assingment in guarding the explosive Sammy Monroe.
