Philippine Patriots Release Brandon Powell Just Before Playoffs
Friday, January 15, 2010, Philippines – With just two more games to the playoffs, the Philippine Patriots have sacked Brandon Charles Powell due to disciplinary issues. Philippine Patriots Team Manager Mr Erick Arejola informed ABL that Powell was given sufficient warnings to merit his release.

The 6’ 5” Powell who has played in all 13 of Patriots’ matches, has scored a total of 147 points and made 58 rebounds, but his performance has been inconsistent throughout the season. Powell’s season-best was on 19 December where the Patriots went up against the KL Dragons at Ynares Sports Arena, where he contributed 20 points to the teams final win of 76 – 70 against the KL Dragons. But it was a different story altogether when the Patriots met the KL Dragons again on 9 January at MABA Stadium, where Powell only managed to score 5 points in the match that saw the KL Dragons emerge winners with a score of 77 – 59 against the Patriots.

With the sacking of Powell, the Patriots have brought in 6’ 6” American Import Gabriel Freeman who is expected to make an appearance in their match against the Thailand Tigers on 17 January at Nimibutr National Stadium, Bangkok Thailand. Freeman previously played for San Miguel Beerman in the Philippine Basketball Association and was also PBA’s Best Import of the Conference 2009. Freeman lead San Miguel Beerman to their 18th Championship with an average of 23 points and 15.5 rebounds in 24 games during the PBA Fiesta Conference.

To all concern and follower in ABL please be inform
and tell you frankly, the Philippines Patriot team
is not really strong team to represent in the ABL
as expected, there is a behind reason and that was
revealed from the close patronage relative in the
team management. Well, if you noticed the team had
losses in the League. So next time when do selecting
players please do not apply politics, there is a lot
of players in the Amature rank and Commercial Clubs
have strong young skill, tall, athletic and shooters.
So, to Patriots team adviced is work hard, discipline,

Thank you Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan for stepping up and getting Freeman to this team. Obviously he made the move especially having been bought TV5 to its owner and quickly imposed his will to this team. You truly are the MVP of Philippine sports..
