Singapore Slingers Win 92 – 80 Against Thailand Tigers, Securing Second Spot In The Playoffs.
Sunday, January 24, 2010, Singapore – The Thailand Tigers met with the Singapore Slingers at Nimibutr National Stadium. This is their third and final meeting for the season.

The two teams first met on 7 December at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, where the Singapore Slingers had just experienced their first home loss to the KL Dragons the week before. The Thailand Tigers took advantage of Slingers’ shaken confidence and took the match 65 – 62 against the Slingers.

The Slingers soon had their revenge when the teams met again at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 17 December, where the Slingers turned their game around, taking the match in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, emerging winners with a final score of 69 – 66 against the Tigers.

The Thailand Tigers sent in Chaz Briggs, Attaporn Lertmalaiporn, Ikenna Nwankwo, Piyapong Piroon and Axel Doruelo to go up against Slingers’ Michael LeBlanc, Kyle Jeffers, Marcus Ng, Al Vergara and Hong Wei Jian.

Tigers’ Chaz Briggs lost the jumpball to Kyle Jeffers of the Singapore Slingers, but it was Briggs’ team mate Axel Doruelo who opened scoring for the team. The Slingers quickly evened the score, and despite both teams being neck-in-neck for most of the match, the Slingers ended up in the lead, finishing the first quarter 21 – 15 against the Tigers. The Slingers continued to push forward in the second quarter and further extended their lead, ending 41 – 29 at half time.

The Thailand Tigers were unable to catch up, and the Slingers ended the third quarter with a 14 point lead and a score of 56 – 42 against the Thailand Tigers. This continued thru the fourth quarter and at the final buzzer the Singapore Slingers emerged winners with a score of  92 - 80 against the Thailand Tigers.

This win puts the Slingers in second place in the League Standings and also secures their spot in the playoffs.
