Satria Muda Dominate Slingers To Force Series Decider
Thursday, February 04, 2010, – With their backs to the walls, Satria Muda Britama turned away the Singapore Slingers 74-45 in dominating fashion to tie the best of three series at 1-1 and send it back to Singapore for a do-or-die game 3 on Sunday.

The Indonesian champions were simply in no mood to allow their season to end prematurely and built up as much as a 34-point lead with their American center Nakiea Miller doing the bulk of the damage and finishing with 24 points and 16 rebounds.

Miller had bore the brunt of some Singapore fans during their game one encounter and clearly came out with a point to prove, outplaying Singapore’s Kyle Jeffers who finished with just 5 points although grabbing 11 rebounds.

He also got some able support from the other import Alex Hartman who finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, typical excellent all-round play from the wily import.

The Slingers, on the other hand, just could not find their shooting touch all night with a paltry 24 percent field goal percentage. Their top scorer was Michael LeBlanc with 14 points and their Filipino playmaker Al Vergara was the only other player to score in double digits with 10 points.

Satria Muda jumped out of the gates quickly to finish the first quarter with a 10 point lead and further extended their lead in the second quarter to 17 but perhaps more importantly limiting the Slingers to just 21 points in the first half.

The home side did not let up in the third quarter  and built on their lead even further to ensure that the ABL fans will witness a deciding series game for the very first time.

With both games in the series now going the way of the home teams, game 3 will be a fascinating encounter as Satria Muda look to break the trend while Singapore will be keen to capitalize on their home comforts and send Satria Muda packing.

The winner of the series will face the Philippine Patriots who earlier dispatched the KL Dragons 2-0 with a narrow 70-65 victory at the MABA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
