Thursday, December 03, 2009, Malaysia – The start of December sees Round 9 of the ASEAN Basketball League take place.
On 5 December, the Philippine Patriots will be going up against Satria Muda BritAma, 4.00pm at the Filoil Flying V Arena, Manila Philippines.
Both teams will be coming strong from their win against Thailand Tigers in the Round 8 matches. Satria Muda BritAma who went up against the Thailand Tigers on 28 November, won the closely fought match 77 – 71. The Philippine Patriots also emerged victorious against the Thailand Tigers on 1 December, with a final score of 77 – 61.
Philippine Patriots who are currently first in the League Standings, will be looking to secure their position. Philippine Patriots have so far won 6 of their 7 matches, only losing once to Singapore Slingers at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 18 October.
On 7 December, Singapore Slingers will be going up against Thailand Tigers, 8.00pm at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Singapore Slingers, who previously suffered a shocking loss to fourth placed KL Dragons on 22 November, will be looking to get their game back on track and reclaim their position at the top of the League Standings.
Thailand Tigers will also be looking for their third win, after consecutive losses to Satria Muda BritAma and Philippine Patriots in Round 8 of the ASEAN Basketball League. Thailand Tigers will be relying on top scorers Chaz Briggs who has 130 points from 7 games and Attaporn Lertmalaiporn with 116 points from 8 matches, to keep the Slingers at bay and secure their much needed third win in order to maintain their position in the League Standings.
Another match to look out for will be on 9 December, which sees Brunei Barracudas go up against KL Dragons, 8.00pm at the Brunei Indoor Stadium. The Brunei Barracudas will be facing strong competition from KL Dragons who are coming from their win against Singapore Slingers. KL Dragons handed the Singapore Slingers their first home loss on 22 November, winning the match 84 – 74.
The Brunei Barracudas who are currently last in the standings table after winning 2 of their seven matches will not make it easy for the KL Dragons. With top scorers Leonidez Avenido (104 points) and Francis Adriano (94 points), the Barracudas will definitely be pushing hard, especially in front of their home crowd.
