Saturday, December 19, 2009, Philippines – Today the Philippine Patriots met with the KL Dragons at the Ynares Sports Arena, Manila Philippines
This is their second meeting, after the Philippine Patriots emerged winners at the MABA Stadium, Malaysia on 15 November, winning the match 73 – 63.
Today the KL Dragons put up a tough fight, not allowing the Patriots to take a comfortable lead. Both teams were neck in neck up to the final minutes of the match.
The Patriots sent In Brandon Powell, Jason Dixon, Jerwin Gaco, John Alcaraz and Froilan Baguion to start the match against KL Dragons’ Koh Way Tek, Chris Kuete, Jamal Brown, Gugasneswaran, Loh Shee Fai.
Froilan Baguion opened the scoring for the Patriots and gave the home team an early 3 point advantage. KL Dragons not wanting to give the match away so early in the first quarter quickly evened the score, ending the first quarter 21 all. It was the same in the second quarter, with both teams pushing hard, and the Patriots gaining a slim one point lead, ending 38 – 37 at half time.
The one-point lead continued in the third quarter, ending 55 – 54 in favour of the Patriots. It was only in the final minutes of the fourth quarter that the Patriots pulled away, ending the match 76 – 70 against the KL Dragons.
This win secures Philippine Patriots’ position in the League Standings, whilst the KL Dragons are in fourth place.
