Sunday, December 20, 2009, Thailand – Thailand Tigers went up against Satria Muda BritAma at the Nimibutr National Stadium today. This is their third meet, with Satria Muda taking a clean sweep against the Thailand Tigers and winning all three matches.
Their first meeting was on 18 October at the Nimibutr National Stadium, where Satria Muda BritAma won 78 – 75 in the closely fought match which saw Thailand Tigers dominate the second and third quarters before Satria Muda BritAma made a comeback in the fourth quarter.
Their second meeting was at The BritAma Arena on 28 November, where Satria Muda BritAma dominated all fourth quarters, and finally winning the match 77 – 71 against the Thailand Tigers.
Today, Satria Muda BritAma once again lead the Thailand Tigers throughout the match. Thailand Tigers sent in Ikenna Nwankwo, Piyapong Piroon, Axel Doruelo, Ratdech Kruatiwa and Chaz Briggs to go up against Satria Muda BritAma’s starting lineup of Nakiea Miller, Christian Sitepu, Youbel Sondakh, Alexander Hartman, Rensy Bajar.
Satria Muda BritAma’s Nakiea Miller won the jumpball against Thailand Tigers’ Chaz Briggs, and team mate Alexander Hartman opened the scoring for Satria Muda BritAma. Satria Muda BritAma continued to push forward, and at the end of the first quarter, were leading 12 – 6 against the Thailand Tigers. In the second quarter, Satria Muda BritAma continued to extend their lead, ending 34 – 20 against the Thailand Tigers at half time.
In the third quarter, the Thailand Tigers picked up the pace and with 4 minutes left to the quarter, the Tigers had managed to reduce Satria Muda’s lead to just 4 points, at the end of the quarter, Satria Muda BritAma were still leading Thailand Tigers 52 – 44. In the fourth quarter, Satria Muda BritAma continued to lead the Tigers, and at the final buzzer emerged as winners, taking the match 69 – 58.
Thailand Tigers’ Chaz Briggs led the team with 22 points and 19 rebounds followed by Ikenna Nwankwo with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Satria Muda BritAma’s Alexander Hartman continued his lead as the team’s top scorer, with 25 points followed by Nakiea Miller with 20 points and 22 rebounds.
This win puts Satria Muda BritAma in second place, with one point separating them from top seeded Philippine Patriots.
