Philippine Patriots Have Their Revenge Against Brunei Barracudas
Monday, December 21, 2009, – Today Philippine Patriots went up against the Brunei Barracudas at the Ynares Sports Arena, Manila Philippines. Today’s match is the rescheduled Round 4 match, which was initially supposed to take place on 31st October but was postponed due to Typhoon Santi.

The Philippine Patriots were looking for revenge against the Brunei Barracudas after losing the previous 13 December match to the Barracudas. The Patriots, who were weakened by the absence of two star players were unable to keep up, and ultimately the Barracudas won the match 95 – 70.

Today the Patriots were back to their full roster, sending in Jason Dixon, Froilan Baguion, Jerwin Gaco, Khasim Mirza and Brandon Powell to go up against Barracudas’ Chee Choun Lim, Reggie Larry, Leonidaz Avenido, Michael Pilgrim and Francis Adriano.

Jerwin Gaco opened scoring for the Patriots, and the team surged forward from there, taking the first quarter 18 – 9 against the Patriots. The Patriots continued to push hard in the second quarter, and with 4 minutes remaining, the Barracudas were already 21 points down, and at half time, the Patriots were leading the Barracudas 42 – 22. At the end of two quarters, the Barracudas had only managed to make 26% of their field goals, and only had 12 rebounds compared to Patriots 21.

The Barracudas, realizing they were running out of time to turn the tables on the Patriots, pushed hard in the third quarter and reduced the Patriots’ lead to 12 points, ending the quarter 41 – 53.

In the fourth quarter, the Patriots continued their lead over the Barracudas, and with 2 minutes left on the clock the Patriots had already secured a 13 point lead. The Patriots continued their lead to the final buzzer, ending the match 70 – 56 against the Barracudas.
