Brunei Barracudas Emerge As Overall Winner Against Thailand Tigers, Winning Match 94 - 89
Monday, January 04, 2010, Thailand – Today saw the third and final rematch between Thailand Tigers and Brunei Barracudas at the Nimibutr National Stadium, Thailand.

Both teams first met on 14 November 2009 at the Brunei Indoor Stadium, where the Brunei Barracudas emerged as winners, taking the match 91 – 86. The Thailand Tigers soon had their revenge when the teams met for the second time on 22 November, with the Tigers winning 77 – 66 against the Barracudas.

 

A tough fight took place, with both teams looking to emerge as overall winners in the best of three.

 

The Thailand Tigers started the match with Ricky Ricafuente, Chaz Briggs, Attaporn Lertmalaiporn, Ikenna Nwankwo and Ratdech Kruatiwa to go up against Brunei Barracudas Reggie Larry, Leonidaz Avenido, Michael Pilgrim, Celedon Camaso and Francis Adriano.

 

Brunei Barracudas’ Michael Pilgrim won the jumpball against Thailand Tigers’ Chaz Briggs. Thailand Tigers’ Ricky Ricafuente opened the scoring with a 3-pointer after a successful defensive rebound, but it was the Barracudas who took the first quarter which ended 28 – 18.

 

The Barracudas continued to extend their lead in the second quarter to 13 points, ending 54 – 41 against the Tigers. The Tigers fought back in the third quarter and with 1 minute left on the clock, the Tigers had managed to close the Barracudas’ lead to just 5 points. Not wanting to give up their lead, the Barracudas pushed hard and at the end of third quarter, the Barracudas were leading 81 – 70.

 

In the final quarter, the Thailand Tigers once again tried to overtake the Brunei Barracudas, and with 2 minutes and 50 seconds left to the match, they had succeeded in taking a one-point lead against the Barracudas. But their lead was short-lived as Barracudas’ Francis Adriano and Michael Pilgrim scored 2 points each, followed by free throws by Celedon Camaso and Leonidaz Avenido which put the Barracudas back in the lead. At the final buzzer, the Barracudas won the match 94 – 89 against the Thailand Tigers.
